It’s coming! It’s coming! The Monster Energy Aftershock Music Festival is coming!!! I am beyond excited to say October 24th & 25th will soon be here bringing one of the biggest music festivals north of Sacramento. For those of you who haven’t heard of Aftershock, SHAME ON YOU! (that was my best metal growl), I am here to school you. Aftershock first made an appearance in Sacramento CA in September of 2012. It was a 1 day show with a 14 band lineup. In 2013 it became a two day event and more than doubled the size of its lineup. 2014 saw even more growth than the previous years with 40 plus performers on the docket. This year is promising the same number in lineup, only they will be adding a third day, (the Friday pre show!), and camping. This festival has been known to attract a whopping 17,000 plus head count of concert goers per day generating millions of dollars in revenue! Wow! This year they are looking at approximately 25,000 attendees! Brovo, Monster Energy Aftershock Music Festival, Brovo! The growth of this annual event is off the charts!
If you couldn’t tell already, this music festival is one that I am very passionate about. My first attendance was in 2013 and was literally a life changing event in many ways. Besides the RAD music, I really liked to experience the comradery that concertgoers showed and how music can make friends out of complete strangers. I feel one of the most successful decisions Aftershock has made is the variety and amount of music it provides. It manages to amass people from all ages and walks of life.
As a professional concert/musician photographer one of the most frustrating experiences I witnessed at Aftershock year after year was the “Happy Snapshooter” in the photo pit! A Happy Snapshooter is defined as a person taking concert photos with a cell phone or a point and shoot camera, the kicker is the photo pass around their necks. Every time I have gone to this music festival I have drooled at the sight of the photo pit, it is a spectacular place to be! Shooting the Aftershock festival has been on my bucket list for a couple years now. It would be the perfect opportunity to capture EPIC photos that tell a story of how wicked cool the Aftershock experience really is. I look forward to the upcoming years that lurk upon Aftershock’s horizon and will not miss a show.
The crew of Honest Brutality has submitted for a media and photo pass. We would be ecstatic to bring you, our listeners a segment of interviews from concertgoers and band members. We also would like to show you how epically bad ass this event is with photos. We are ready to rise to the occasion and will keep you informed of our coverage parameters as the time draws near.
In closing, I would like to encourage all of you to get your tickets, this festival is a MUST GO! Keep an eye out for our Aftershock-After the show release and photos. Even if we do not acquire the credentials to get in with our devices, Honest Brutality will be in full swing with our gear outside of the show! See you there Metal Lovers!!!
